Designed by Cadiz and located in Bur Dubai, BurJuman 1 opened in 1992 and was one of the pioneers in the Dubai retail market, bringing in visitors from across the emirates and the world over. In 2008, CI was asked to redesign the interiors, and vertically expand the retail space of the old mall, following the original spirit of a luxury and high-fashion mall. It now includes a cinema complex, Carrefour hypermart, and an extended foodcourt and family entertainment zone. It is slated to open in 2016.
