Architect Medardo Cadiz, Keynote Speaker of the 1st Philippine Property Show in Dubai
GOOD MASTER PLANNING DESIGN  =  GOOD BUSINESS

Renowned Architect, Medardo Cadiz was the keynote speaker for the first ever Philippine Property Show held last September 26, 2008 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Sheikh  Zayed Road, Dubai, UAE.

During the 45 min speech complimented by a power point presentation, Architect Cadiz highlighted the importance of master planning that will equate to successful businesses. The speech made mention about how our environment influences us, our mood, our outlook, over all behavior, our life and related it to how he was able to hone his ideals and philosophy in life and in work.

To further entice the audience which is composed of developers, businessmen, and middle-to high earner OFW’s Cadiz gave a brief background about his work, his life abroad and his company. It was stated that Cadiz gained much credibility and success in his line of profession because of his exposure to global standards and practices where he lived and worked in 5 different countries namely USA, Singapore, Australia, UAE and of course The Philippines.

A few of the good things that one reaps from becoming globally exposed according to Cadiz are “having a local perspective and understanding of the culture, social aspects and general lifestyle”. Sharing the uniqueness of their culture and being able to adapt and become local and global all at the same time, as per Cadiz.

  “You become global (with a global outlook) but at the same time, you are accepted (by your peers and clients) as local. They open up to you more. That is the big difference.” Cadiz explains.

Master Planning – Big Plans

According to Cadiz, when one talks about master planning he talks about “a contained environment with open spaces and destination” and that the design for the master plan itself should promote the well being of its inhabitants. Cadiz gave four important elements on how to make a good master plan. “Community living, Architecture, Services and Amenities”

Furthermore, Cadiz stressed the different process towards achieving a good master plan. Knowing the client, Knowing the project, the site, the culture, the people and Brainstorming sessions.

“this collection of diverse individuals bring out the multitude of ideas in creating an innovative solution to all our design / master plan with a story. This is a process you don’t learn in school”
Cadiz added.

Another important point of the speech was about Hamilo Coast, a 5000 hectare development by SM Group wherein Cadiz and his firm was commissioned to design the master plan and concept architecture. Cadiz talked about how he and his firm together with the developers were able to come up with the design that embodies the modern Filipino concept of living.

“the Hamilo Coast project must exemplify the best in the modern Filipino resort living and lifestyle with an environment that is truly Filipino, not the old Bahay Kubo Filipino, but what I call  Contemporary Tropical Filipino design.”
